Matsu-no-Yu Koryukan, located on Nakamachi Komise Street that is one of the Japan Best Roads 100, is a community center where visitors and local people can meet, talk and communicate with exchanging smiles. It used to be a ‘sento’, a Japanese public bath, and still it keeps the atmosphere of sento.

It is a tourist information center of Kuroishi City opened in July 2015, which is certified as a JNTO Tourist Information Center Category 1. They are available to communicate and support foreigners mainly in English.

Seibien

Seibien is a representative Japanese garden in the style of “Oishi Bugaku School” that is seen mostly in Tsugaru area. Its construction began in 1902 and it took 9 years to complete. It is a Chisen-kaiyushiki garden (a Japanese style garden with a path around a central pond and spring) and also is a National Designated Place of Scenic Beauty.

Minamida Hotel Apple Land<

It is famous for “Ringo Bath” (day trip bathing is available until 15:00), in the bathtub of which a lot of apples are floating with sweet and sour smell. Furthermore, there are various types of bath such as “Manten Bath” using bamboo charcoal and a private style bath made from Hinoki, Japanese cypress (it costs extra 1200 yen per one hour to reserve the private bath).

Owani Town

Owani Onsen Village

Owani Onsen Village

Owani Onsen with 800-year history has been enjoyed until today as a “Tsugaru’s Okuzashiki (suburban Onsen area)” since when it was opened. It is said that the Lord of Tsugaru Domain had visited here for curing in the Edo Period. It is good for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint ache and so on.

Owani Onsen Ski Resort, located at the southern edge of Owani Onsen village, sprawls across the northern slope of Mount Ajyara. There are various skiing course for not only experts and also kids. In summer, visitors can experience trekking and Paragliding.

Inakadate Village

Rice Paddy Art

Rice Paddy Art

“Rice Paddy Art”, calling it “Tanbo Art” in Japanese, is the gigantic picture drawn on the rice field with mixing different color of rice plants instead of watercolor paints. Its detailed description and high artistic quality bring attention by overseas media. It is annually held at the two venues in the village and its best time to visit will be about one month from the middle of July.

Winter Rice Paddy Art

It is a winter event to enjoy the snow season. The main attraction is a “snow art”, which is an art of light and shadow created by walking on the snowfield. Moreover, visitors can enjoy hands-on workshop or foods and product stalls. The snow art will be illuminated in the night.

From Hirosaki Station or Hirosaki Bus Terminal, take Konan Bus, Hirosaki-Kuroishi-Ogawara Line and get off at “Takahi” bus stop. Approximately 12-min walk from the bus stop.
