The Aomori Prefectural Center for Tourism and Industry, ASPAM

This information center is a 15-story high triangular structure in the shape of an A for Aomori, standing 76 meters high. There are shops selling local specialties, an observation lounge, and restaurants serving local dishes.

Hoshino Resort Aomoriya

Hot spa covering approximately 200,000 tsubos (660,000 m3). The open air bath “Ukiyu” is available for your enjoyment. A float used in the Aomori Nebuta Festival is on display at the Inn.

Towada City Kanchogai-dori / Komakaido(The car window)

168 pine trees and 157cherry trees line this 36 meter-wide street extending for 1.1 km. In 1986, the street was selected as one of 100 best streets in Japan, and in 1992, it was also selected and included in the “New One Hundred Views of Japan.” The street is beautifully lit up both when the cherry blossoms come in full bloom in spring and during the Christmas holidays.

Oirase Gorge

Oirase Stream originates at Nenokuchi on Lake Towada, extending approximately 14 km to Yakeyama. It consists of 14 small and large waterfalls and 1 pond in the midst of richly wood areas. The beautiful flow of the stream’s water changes at each corner. Unusual shaped rocks and scenic spots offer the natural beauty of the four seasons.

Towadako Sightseeing Boat

Take in the beauty of the four seasons at Lake Towada on this sightseeing cruiser. The boat takes you on a cruise to see the mountains colored with new green leaves in early summer and red foliage during autumn. It moves along the complex peninsula allowing for the view of steep cliffs from the water.

Hakkoda Ropeway

Hakkoda Ropeway is in service year-round. A 10 minute ride takes you to the Tamoyachi-dake Sancho Station for a panoramic view of the fresh greenery of early summer and the beautiful autumn foliage. Winter is when skiers gather. Skiing is possible from late November to mid-May, with some places allowing for summer skiing into August. The frost formations on winter trees can be seen from February to March. Autumn foliage falls between late September to mid-October.

Aomori Museum of Art

Aomori Museum of Art was established as an annex to the San-nai Maruyama Jomon Ruins as a center for information about the art and culture of the northern Tokoku region. The museum building is filled with the romance of Jomon culture, and the white walls carry the hopes and dreams that today will add another page to its history.

Sannai-Maruyama Historical Site

San-nai-Maruyama, designated as a special historic spot on November 24, 2000, is the largest site of remains from the Jomon to the Middle Period (Approx. 5,500 years to 4,000 years ago) left in Japan.

Hirosaki Castle (Hirosaki Park)

Hirosaki Park, covering an area of 49 ha, is where the 2nd lord of Tsugaru, Tsugaru Nobuhira built a castle in 1611. After 380 years, the castle tower, 3 turrets, 5 gates and Mie dike still remain and are designated as national important cultural properties. The park is also well known for cherry blossoms. Towards the end of April, about 2,600 Yoshino and double cherry blossom trees come to full bloom. In fall, the leaves of about 1,000 maple trees turn to autumn tints with the green background of the old castle. Large, middle and cascade chrysanthemums, as well as chrysanthemum dolls, considered the finest in the Kita-Ouu area, color the ground and fill the area with a sweet aroma. At the beginning of February, the Snow Lantern Festival takes place, a festival now considered one of the 5 grand snow festival events in the Michinoku area.

Fujita Kinen Teien (Fujita Memorial Garden)

This Japanese garden was created in July 1991, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Hirosaki becoming a city. This Edo-style landscape was designed by a landscape artist from Tokyo as the garden for the residence of Kenichi Fujita, the first chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
