Hachinohe Enburi
It is the festival to pray for a rich harvest and to bring spring to Hachinohe region. Enburi is characterized by dances of the dancers called Tayu. They all wear large hats called Eboshi that is designed in the shape of horse’s neck and dance shaking the head. The dances express farm work such as sowing and rice planting. It is designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.

Lake Towada Winter Story
It is the winter festival that offers fantasy world starting with a gate of snow and lights. Visitors can enjoy snow sculptures, and illuminations of “the Statute of Otome” at lakeside lighten up with snow lanterns and also tunnel created with blue LED lights. Don’t miss the winter fireworks starting at 8 p.m. every night. Furthermore, there are booths “Yukiakari Yokocho” for local foods and “Kamakura (igloo) Bar” for drinks served in cups made of ice or apple.

Hirosaki Castle Snow Lantern Festival
It is one of the big five snow festivals of Michinoku and offers winter scenes of the castle town. Visitors can enjoy snow lanterns made by locals in the park. Approximately 300 miniature igloos called mini-kamakura with candles light up the winter night in the park and bring fantasy winter world. A huge snow sculpture, designed in the shape of the historical architecture in main venue and snow slide are also popular. This year, you don’t want to miss a castle that is temporary moved during renovation. Projection mapping on stonewall is also scheduled.

Aomori Winter Festival
During festivals, kids’ favorite huge slide made of snow appears at the venue and other many snow attractions are scheduled. Furthermore a variety of events can be found not only for kids but also adults, including making bread, horse ride, playing with kites and so on. There are eating booths for local foods to keep you warm.

Winter Rice Paddy Art 2020

“Snow Art” is a magnificent art that is illustrated by stepping and hardening the snowfield with human’s two feet. Please enjoy this year’s artistic drawing on snowfield again in Inakadate Village, Aomori.
