The Towada spring festival starts Wednesday, April 20th to Thursday May 5th at Towada Central Park. A lot of street stalls open at the green area of the park during the festival, and the cherry blossom trees are illuminated after the flowers are blooming.
Also, there is a Sakura-Yabusame tournament on April 23th and 24th at the green area of the park. Let me explain about Yabusame a little. Yabusame is horseback archery; for a long time, only men were allowed to practice it. However, recently, a lot of women are good at Japanese style horse-riding and archery recently. The Sakura-Yabusame tournament is an women’s horseback archery tournament that is held only in Towada.
