Bunaco is a Tsugaru craft product which unites the natural beauty and strength of wood with a style inspired by Tsugaru culture. Founded in 1956, the product name bunaco was created from the word buna (beech tree) and the Tsugaru dialect ko which is added on the end of nouns to emphasize friendliness. Compared to hiba (Japanese cypress), beech wood is a hardwood abundant in Aomori with just the right amount of viscosity. The products rarely crack or bend and can be safely used abroad under different climates. Using modern technology, the company has developed their unique techniques. Their products’ exclusive shapes and designs have received attention and are used in luxurious hotels and cafes in Tokyo.
Bunaco Production Experience
Bunaco has grown into an international interior brand. The Bunaco Production Experience is a great opportunity to experience making a bowl using the bunaco style technique. We are sure participants will enjoy the beauty of their hand-made product and the experience of making it.
