Aomori Prefecture, a land with rich nature has pure water flowing rivers that enhance the quality of rice for brewing. Therefore there are sake breweries dotted in Aomori. Also you will find liquors made of local specialties such as apples or Japanese yam.
Some of brewers produce sake year-round, however, sake is normally brewed in fall, reaches peak in winter, and is ready in spring. There are many breweries available for tour. It is worth for visiting to taste sake and experience their traditional atmosphere.

Facilities available for tasting
Visitors can taste Aomori-made cidre at “A-FACTORY” in front of JR Aomori Station and Aomori’s local sake at “Aomori Shunmikan” in JR Shin-Aomori Station.
Both facilities have vending machine for tasting with \100 per glass.
Also at “kimori” in the Hirosaki Apple Park, visitors can taste cidre for \300 per glass.

Exported Aomori’s Sake
Thanks to rich and pure water originate in the World Heritage “Shirakami-Sanchi”, Hakkoda Mountains, Mt. Iwaki and other mountains leading high quality rice, Aomori Prefecture has perfect condition for brewing sake. It can say that any of “Aomori-made sake” is authentic and equally fine grade.
Nowadays Japanese sake is attracting the world attention, and so Aomori’s sake is also exported abroad and is increasingly popular.
