Asobe no mori IWAKISO is a hot spring lodging facility with a modern Japanese style atmosphere that matches the surrounding nature. The restaurant is a 100-year old farm house that was moved and reconstructed at IWAKISO, featuring an open kitchen with counter seats, hearth, and private dining rooms. Seasonal delicacies are available in addition to “Kaiseki ryori Kakayama”, a Japanese style banquet prepared by the master chef. The hot spring at IWAKISO is popular even among locals. There are Tsugaru shamisen live performances as well as koginzashi (traditional Aomori needlework) and akebizuru craft (weaving craft) lessons (reservation required), and other activities that allow guests to enjoy the culture, tradition, and wilderness of Tsugaru. The hotel is conveniently located near the world heritage site Shirakami Sanchi, Mt. Iwaki, and Iwaki Shrine.

The hot spring at IWAKISO is also known as “Netsu no yu” (the spring of hot water). The source of the hot spring is Hyakusawa Onsen, a well-known hot spring among locals. The large bath is made from Aomori beech wood and the fragrant scent of the wood offers a relaxing atmosphere. The outdoor onsen is surrounded by virgin oak trees, allowing guests to forget the passing of time and feel immersed in the great nature.
