“Tanbo Art” is an art event held every year in Inakadate Village, Aomori Prefecture.
It is a gigantic artwork in rice field, which is created by planting different kind and color of rice plants. Nowadays the village is famous for this Tanbo Art worldwide with elaborate designs and artistic work. Last year, the pictures from movies “Gone With the Wind” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was drawn and approximately 340,000 tourists visited.

“Tanbo Art” of 2016 will be created under two themes. One is from NHK TV drama “Sanadamaru” at the first rice field and the other from the movie “Shin Godzilla” at the second field.

The movie “Shin Godzilla”, the English title of which is “Godzilla Resurgence”, is the new film of Godzilla series that a world-famous monster “Godzilla” appears on screen. It has been 12 years since Japanese filmmaker produced last one of the series, and the film will be released in July 2016 in Japan.

Furthermore, this year also “Stone Art”, which is the artwork created using different color of stones on the ground, will be held. It got favorable reviews on last year. As same as last year, its theme will be a Japanese famous actor, Ken Takakura. The artwork can be seen from the Yayoi-no-sato observation deck at the second Tanbo Art field. A work of the Stone Art of Yujiro Ishihara, a Japanese actor, will be created in this year.
