The Shirakami Forest walking trail is located in the Kuromori Area, a 30-minute ride south from central Ajigasawa. 20 km (12.4 miles) further south is the area designated as the World Heritage Site.
The trail is called a forest walking trail as it is not as easy as a promenade, but not as demanding as a mountain trail. 200-year old virgin beech trees can be seen.
The General Information Rest Place “Kuromori-kan”
At Kuromori-kan, visitors can access the exhibition area and the rest space freely. Hiking registration and guide requests can be done here. There are free walking stick and boots rental available.
