The morning market, which is Hachinohe’s largest one, is held on every Sunday at Tatehana Wharf. It is also said to be the largest morning market in Japan.
The fishing port, where is usually calm with the ships lying at anchor before leaving, is getting lively before daylight on Sunday, and filled up with approximately over 400 stalls and thousands of visitors to enjoy shopping.
Visitors can find various kinds of things, such as fresh and cooked marine products, local vegetables at reasonable price and foods such as Takikomi-gohan [rice dish cooked with various ingredients and flavored with soy sauce] or Udon [Japanese wheat noodles].
