The Lake Towada Winter Story festival is a winter tourist attraction on Lake Towada, held annually in February. A specially designated site is built at the Yasumiya area of Towada lakeside, featuring a grand snow statue, an igloo bar, and night illumination of the Otome no Zo statue.
Visitors are entertained by the night illumination as well as the tunnel of light, created using 160,000 LED lights. The winter fireworks, which go up at 8:00 every night during the festival, amaze visitors with a unique sound and show when compared to summer fireworks. The low humidity of the crisp winter air causes the booming fireworks to echo sharply from the surrounding mountains.
* Lake Towada Winter Story has changed its name to “FeStA LuCe.”
