Within 1-minute walk from JR Aomori station is the Nebuta House, Wa Rasse. This special facility aims to introduce the history behind Aomori Nebuta Festival and the production techniques through the people and towns of Aomori. The Aomori Nebuta Festival, one of the major festivals of Aomori, is held for only one week from August 2nd to August 7th, but visitors can get a feel of the festival throughout the year at the Wa Rasse, Nebuta House. The facility also houses restaurants and souvenir shops with items themed from the nebuta festival.
Enjoy the Powerful Nebuta All Year Around
At the Nebuta House Wa Rasse, five carefully chosen nebuta from the Aomori Nebuta festival are permanently exhibited. Visitors can learn about the story behind each nebuta as well as the structure of the float. It is a new experience when compared to the festival itself and visitors can soak in the artistry of the maker of the float.
Every Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, the hayashi musicians of the summer festival give a live performance, and visitors can join in the haneto dance to get a quasi-experience of Nebuta festival.
Haneto and Hayashi Experience
Hayashi groups participating in the summer festival take turns to perform at the stage of Wa Rasse. Visitors get to see the same exciting and intense performance as in the summer.
